We are proud to announce the launching of our new online publication Period Door (www.PeriodDoor.com). We founded Period Door because we believe it’s time to take a more serious look at the role that doors play in our lives. Doors are much more than just a way in or a way out; they are a passageway between our public life and our home life. Doors establish an identity for our houses and ultimately, ourselves. We at Period Door seek to uncover often overlooked features of the doors we use every day. We will examine their history, construction, and uses.

Thanks to all who came to our Open House! We enjoyed sharing our passion for artistic wood doors. We hope you enjoyed the raffle, food, art, and doors.

On September 13th and 14th we celebrated the fine art of passage at our new workshop and office in Gig Harbor, Washington. Our office features 10 unique doors made from 12 different varieties of woods. The entire office was designed and built by us and truly reflects our handcrafted philosophy. Portal Party attendees enjoyed participating in a raffle where they guessed the wood species of each door. Wood species included Afrormosia, Wenge, Sapele Mahogany, Birdseye Maple, and Rustic Alder, just to name a few. We answered questions about our doors and showcased entry doors, swing-out carriage doors, automatic openers, and door hardware. Visitors particularly enjoyed seeing the handcrafted quality of our doors up-close.
