We are proud to announce the launching of our new online publication Period Door (www.PeriodDoor.com). We founded Period Door because we believe it’s time to take a more serious look at the role that doors play in our lives. Doors are much more than just a way in or a way out; they are a passageway between our public life and our home life. Doors establish an identity for our houses and ultimately, ourselves. We at Period Door seek to uncover often overlooked features of the doors we use every day. We will examine their history, construction, and uses.
We’re launching our first issue of Period Door with the series, Choosing the Right Door. Written by resident Architect Jeremy Broderick, this series explores various American housing types and how to choose a door best suited to that style. In the coming weeks, Jeremy will explain both the general and the key features that tie a house to its period style, and give some advice on what to look for in a door to give a period architectural look to your project. Be sure to give it a read and let us know what you think.
